About Operation Rescue:

Where do you donate your proceeds to?

We partnered with Operation Rescue, an NGO based in the capital of Tigray. They focus on supporting orphaned and vulnerable children using community-based care. The children are supported academically, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Operation Rescue opens their facility to these children to receive daily meals, medical assistance, and academic support. They have been supporting children for the last 20 years and have done so using a holistic approach. We understand that this conflict directly impacts all of the children they serve. We can only imagine the influx of children who will need support during this time.

Why did you choose to work with the non-profit Operation Rescue?

We wanted to support a small non-profit organization to make the greatest impact on the ground. Luckily, one of our very own organizers behind the MINW campaign had the opportunity to volunteer with Operation Rescue in Mekelle. She trusted the work and commitment the organization had to their children and the greater communities they support. She witnessed how the center provides these vulnerable children with stability in their everyday life. Currently, Operation Rescue supports over 900 children through 3 of their centers located in Mekelle, Adigrat, and Adwa.

Who created Operation Rescue?

Operation Rescue was founded in 2000 by Christina and Marciano Texira. They started with one center located in Mekelle where they currently serve 500 children. In 2010 a second center was opened in Adigrat, now catering for 200 children. Then in 2013 a third center in Adwa for 200 children, using the same community-based model of care. Operation Rescue has become a safe haven in these cities for vulnerable children. They are currently supporting 900 children through their 3 centers in Tigray.

Where is Operation Rescue based?

Operation Rescue’s main office is located in Heimberg, Switzerland, and managed by original founders Christina and Marciano Texira. They have an entrusted team based in Tigray that has managed efforts on the ground for over 16 years.

How can I donate to Operation Rescue directly?

Thank you for asking! Please click the link to the Operation Rescue donation page. Make sure to earmark your donations if you would like them to support the centers in Tigray.
